This PC based program
uses all the standard Windows features such as
graphical editing, multilevel undo, easily navigated
menus and dialogues presenting relevant information
concisely, to provide a tool to design and modify
any motion shape.
Each motion shape
consists of a number of segments. A segment has
a type (of
which their are 17 defined
including standard CAM laws and a polynomial
for maximum configurability) and matching constraints
at each end. By choosing the relevant segment
types and modifying the matching constraints
(e.g. match velocity from previous segment?)
it is possible to generate smooth, optimised
shapes which achieve the desired profile with
the least effort from the motor and mechanism.
Graphically viewing position, velocity, acceleration
and jerk will allow him to check that the motion
is physically achievable.
