Camlinks is an effective
way of designing high-speed machines. Concentrating
on the dynamic aspects of the machine, mechanisms
and motions can be designed and analysed in detail
before manufacture. Crank lengths and motions
can be altered interactively and their results
run on animated drawings of the machine or mechanism.
Inertia and forces can then be applied and the
resulting torque profiles displayed graphically.
- Design
Cams by refining the end motion required.
Camlinks will produce a profile for cam manufacture.
- Experiment
with different mechanisms.
- Improve product
handling: CAD drawing outlines of the machine
can be imported into the
Camlinks model to check the machine,
product timing
and clearances.
- Check performance
for a range of products: For example, adjusting
the motion to deal with products of different
sizes.
Of course part of designing a machine
is calculating the motion profiles
of your
motors: these can
be used in Camlinks to design the
machine and then downloaded into the PTS control
system
and used as part of the control system.
