SERVOnet is a
method of providing modular, distributed control
around a machine. A central machine manger (QManager)
acts as program store, user interface and scheduler
to a number of networked axis modules (QDrives
or QMotion/QControl) which perform the servo
control on a number of motors. SERVOnet supports
the
full PTS language allowing motor synchronisation
between any motors on the network.
This concept fits
neatly into how any machine or production line
is developed. It is often desirable to break
down the machine control into smaller elements
which can be tested individually before moving
onto the next section - without requiring complex
wiring. With SERVOnet this can be achieved. Each
axis module is located close to the drive and
motor, and, as a result, installation wiring
is kept to an absolute minimum. This in itself
increases reliability and simplifies time consuming
installation. Adding additional axes to a line
is also simplified - physically all that is required
is to connect an axis module onto the network.
SERVOnet runs on the industrially hardened CANbus,
designed for high speed synchronisation and communication.
