  • Quin is the exclusive UK supplier of the long-life, highly dynamic LinMot linear motor products. These motors are designed for wash down applications (protection class IP69K) where fast and accurate motion is required and are therefore used extensively in mounting, packing, textile and handling machines.

Linear motors offer significant advantages over pneumatics and other mechanical systems for applications with cyclical motions:

    • Longer operational life within even the most challenging of environments
    • Near to Zero Maintenance
    • Superior flexibility, dynamics and precision compared to a traditional pneumatic solution
    • Significantly reduced energy costs

The running costs of pneumatics will exceed the investment cost of LinMot motors within 12 months, typically less than 6 months and sometimes weeks. Visit our blog to view a case study which calculates  and compares the total cost for the replacement of pneumatic cylinders with industrial linear motors.

Robotics – A Total Motion Solution

LinMot produce a wide range of motion solutions, including linear motors, guides, and MagSprings – all of which can be combined to create a fully-integrated, total motion solution.

LinMot products (guides and motors) have been designed from the outset to integrate seamlessly, by treating each product as a plug-and-play module. To enable a complete multi-axis solution, these ‘modules’ can be combined together easily to create a motion solution that is ideal for any automated production process.

With minimal engineering and investment outlay, we can assist with the design of a robotic motion solution operating in 2, 3 or 4 axes, using exclusively LinMot components.

LinMot motors can be used for robotic applications that include pick and place, end of line pick-and place packaging solutions, for capping and closure, rotate and place, and so on.

    Why LinMot?

With peak acceleration rates of 900 m/s2, velocity of 7m/s and a peak force of 2700N, fully integrated position sensors and bearings, and a solid construction, LinMot motors and servo drives can be used as an alternative to conventional pneumatic cylinders and can lower both system and operational costs.

    Solutions:

    Linear Motors

LinMot linear motors employ a direct electromagnetic principle. Electromagnetic force provides direct linear movement without the use of cams, gears, belts, or other mechanical devices. LinMot motors and its servo drives are purely electric drive systems, with only a few moving parts.

LinMot produce a linear motor for even the most demanding situations. Specialised models can be had which target high performance and ultra-short stroke demands, and can be had with three phase support and integrated guides or modules.

    Linear Rotary Motors

LinMot Linear-rotary motors can be used to implement any combination of linear and rotary motions. The compact housing contains both an electromagnetic linear and rotary drive. Driven by independent servo drives, either motor can be programmed to produce either synchronous or completely independent movements.

These linear-rotary motors can be used to automate complex tasks, such as threading in, closure/capping, transferring, stacking and aligning, in one highly efficient, electromagnetic drive.

    Linear Guides

LinMot linear guides are compact guide units for linear motors.

The guides are used to guide the load, to support external forces, torques, and bending moments, and simultaneously as anti-rotation devices. They provide high-precision guidance and allow the load to be dynamically and precisely positioned.

    MagSprings

As in “magnetic spring”, LinMot MagSprings act as a passive electromagnetic alternative to traditional gas pressure springs. A MagSpring exerts a constant force over it’s entire working range irrespective of displacement, unlike a traditional spring. Based on permanent magnets, MagSprings need neither electrical power nor compressed air – making it ideal for fail safe functionality and weight compensation duties.
