New Versapack for faster, more efficient packing

Integrated case packer, case erector and case sealer

Quin Systems, the Wokingham-based designer and supplier of intelligent end-of-line automated packing systems, has launched a new Versapack™ machine.

The compact design allows the machine to be used in a wide range of packing line operations without the need for additional building or line reorganisation and the servo-driven robotic case erector system makes the Versapack™ faster, smarter and more efficient than its predecessors.

Managing Director, Mike Webb said that Quin had responded to the needs of its customers, who increasingly need faster, flexible end-of-line solutions that help them to meet their production targets.

“Versapack™ is the smallest and fastest integrated case erecting and packing machine on the market with the ability to pack products in any orientation including on-edge.  The efficient servo-driven case erector has been designed to handle a wide range of cases including the smaller retail-ready cases, a necessity for those supplying major retailers who want to make the most of their shelf space.”  – Mike Webb, MD Quin Systems

Working closely with customers, Quin has incorporated the ability to pack new-style bag formats and stand-up pouches into cases to give producers the packaging flexibility they need to remain competitive.

The new Versapack™ is already in operation in the food sector, packing filled Stabilo packs and pouches into a range of shelf-ready cases.

Key ingredient to effective packing at McCain

Manufacturer of Ready Baked PotatoesInnovative global food manufacturer grows production facility with Quin Systems.

When McCain Foods (GB) Ltd. launched Ready Baked Jackets in 2012, the product proved so popular that by 2013 the company needed to add a new line to its Scarborough facility. This gave McCain a great opportunity to invest in its end-of-line process.

Choosing Versapack from Quin Systems was an easy decision. Compact, fast, reliable and scaleable, Versapack is a case erector and case packing machine that has a far simpler set up and operation than conventional systems.

McCain’s engineering and training teams were impressed with how little time it took to get Versapack installed and meet the very stringent site acceptance tests required.

“I was very pleased with the planning and attention to detail of the Quin Versapack. It met McCain’s high quality standards,” said Jim Crookes , the Project Engineer for the Bakes Line.

“The machine is very easy to operate and change over from one product to another,” added Training Officer Terry Machin.

“We are delighted that McCain chose Versapack to improve end-of-line packing for this product,” said Quin Systems MD, Mike Webb. “It is a unique machine for the market, and appeals to increasing numbers of manufacturers who want to improve the speed and reliability of their case packing without expensive refurbishments or extensions.”
